There is a special genre of humor that opens its doors to you when you become a nursing student. You then realize, once you are a nurse, the door leads you to a never-ending hallway of memes, tweets, and shared-experience ironies that only those in the medical field will come close to understanding. While it may be cliche to say laughter is the best medicine, it certainly helps maintain sanity in situations that otherwise have you at a loss for words.
Everyone can relate to that doctor, that frequent flyer patient, or that family member. Everyone remembers their first foley, chaos of calling a rapid response, or basically 1-to-1ing a delirious patient. These experiences unite us.
